Men's Soccer Erupts for Four Second Half Goals in Win Over Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (4-3-3) erupted for four second half goals as the scarlet and white came away with a convincing 4-0 victory over Worcester State (1-6-1) on Wednesday night from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Charles Lopez nearly gave an early lead with a shot that hit the post in the fourth minute and later in the half, senior William Lopez hit the crossbar.
  • Junior Ben Siegel saw his shot saved in the 19th minute by Zach Nelson before junior Diego Marin tallied his first save of the match off a shot from Christian Munoz.
  • Before the half, senior Tyler Manley and Charles Lopez each had their shots stopped as the teams entered the locker room tied at 0-0.
  • William Lopez gave Clark a 1-0 edge in the 48th minute with a hesitation move and beat the goalie to the right.
  • In the 51st minute, Lopez found Siegel across the pitch and Siegel buried the shot to extend the Cougars lead to 2-0.
  • Senior Lucas Saia extended Clark's advantage to 3-0 with a strike after getting around a Lancer defender and curled the ball into the back of the net in the 58th minute.
  • After Marin stopped another shot, sophomore Nico Carrillo collected a loose ball from outside the box and buried it over the goalie's head as the Cougars came away with a 4-0 victory.

  • William Lopez recorded his first goal and assist of the season, going down as his seventh and ninth as a Cougar.
