HARTFORD, Conn. – The Clark University volleyball team (12-9) traveled to Trinity (18-3) for a non-conference game against the Bantams and dropped the match 3-1 on Friday night from Ray Oosting Gymnasium.
The Cougars fell 25-21 in the first set, took the second set 25-17, dropped the third set 25-13, and were edged 25-15.
How it Happened
- Clark trailed 9-5 early despite kills from graduate students Sofia Scherrer del Llano and Victoria Pastor and kills later in the set from first-year Isabella Alcott and sophomore Winifred Gakidis made it a 17-10 contest.
- The Cougars went on a 6-1 run in the middle of the set as Gakidis, Alcott, and Pastor to pull within two at 19-17.
- Scherrer del Llano and Gakidis combined for a block later in the first and kills from Alcott and Scherrer del Llano each registered kills, but the Bantams won the set 25-21.
- Clark held a 13-9 lead in the second set as seniors Yvanna Torres and Emily Newman each dished out assists on kills from Alcott, Pastor, Scherrer del Llano, first-year Abigail Venis, and graduate student Camille Flurry.
- After three unanswered Trinity points, the Cougars rattled off five straight points as Scherrer del Llano and Pastor recorded kills as Clark led 18-12.
- Pastor tallied three kills and Scherrer del Llano added a pair of kills over the remainder of the set as the Cougars won the set 25-17.
- The scarlet and white trailed 8-7 in the third set despite kills from Torres, Gakidis, Pastor, and Newman before the Bantams went on a 7-1 run to go up 15-9.
- Alcott and Pastor also recorded kills over the remainder of the set as Trinity won the set 25-13.
- Clark jumped out to a 7-4 edge in the fourth set as Gakidis and sophomore Katelyn Williams registered kills and Newman tallied a service ace.
- Trinity rallied to take a 13-8 lead in the set before Gakidis and Flurry combined for a block and Williams recorded a kill to pull Clark within four at 14-10.
- Alcott and Flurry registered kills over the remainder of the set as the Cougars fell 25-15.

- Clark recorded 45 kills, three blocks, 42 assists, and 72 digs.
- Pastor led the squad with 12 kills and added 10 digs.
- Scherrer del Llano added 10 kills and a team-leading 24 digs.
- Alcott also reached double figures in kills with 10.
- Torres led the team with 23 assists and Newman added 12.
