Sadie Cohen recorded a game-winning goal with a header off a corner kick serviced in by first-year
Selene Hammad with three seconds to play as the Cougars (4-10-2, 1-6-2 NEWMAC) stunned Emerson (5-6-5, 4-3-2 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Rotch Field.
What Happened
- Senior Anabella White recorded her first save of the match in the first minute of play off a shot from Maddie Khaw and tallied two more stops over the first eight minutes of action to keep the match scoreless.
- Junior Gabriella Herivaux created Clark's first chance of the afternoon with a shot that was stopped by Amara Schaub in the 14th minute and Hammad saw her first shot of the match get saved by Schaub in the 21st minute.
- Neither squad allowed a shot on goal over the final 24 minutes of the first half as the teams entered the break tied at 0-0.
- Khaw found the back of the net in the 57th minute off a feed from Alianna West-Rodrigues to take a 1-0 lead and in the 59th minute, sophomore Ainsley Golini nearly tied the match with a shot that went just wide of the target.
- White registered a critical save in the 71st minute before Hammad took a free kick from the left side of the pitch and bent the ball into the top right corner past an outstretched Schaub to tie the match at 1-1 with 12 minutes remaining.
- White stopped two shots within a two-minute stretch to keep the match tied before first-year Georgia Louis fired a shot that was blocked to earn a corner kick.
- In the 90th minute, Hammad serviced in a corner to the middle of the box that found the head of Cohen and Cohen buried the ball into the back of the net as Clark stunned the Lions 2-1.
