WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (5-5, 1-2 NEWMAC) earned their first NEWMAC victory of the season with a thrilling 3-2 win over Mount Holyoke (6-5, 0-3 NEWMAC) off goals from three penalty corners on senior day from Granger Field on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
- Graduate student Greer McCarty gave the scarlet and white an early 1-0 advantage as junior Jenna Beauchain passed a penalty corner to fellow junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia, who fired a ball in that was tipped by junior Ciaran Cubbage and found McCarty's stick to beat Rachel Katzenberg in goal.
- After junior Loren Root's first save of the match, Mount Holyoke's Diane Lee scored off a feed from Scout Climie to tie the game up at 1-1 in the seventh minute.
- Off another penalty corner taken by Beauchain, Beauchain found junior Alison Kopec and Kopec sent the ball over to graduate student Rachael Romain, who fired a ball past Katzenberg as Clark held a 2-1 advantage.
- Sophia Guziewicz tied the game at 2-2 before the end of the first quarter as the team's entered the second tied in a back-and-forth match.
- Early in the second quarter, Root recorded three saves and Beauchain added a defensive save as the Cougars kept the Lyons out of cage before junior Morgan Brown broke the deadlock with a goal off a feed from junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia in the 27th minute as Clark led 3-2 at the half.
- Golding recorded a shot attempt on goal in the third that was saved and Root tallied another save as the Cougars took a 3-2 edge into the fourth.
- Root stopped a pair of shots early in the fourth before McCarty and Golding each applied pressure with shots on target that were stopped.
- Over the final seven minutes of action, Root recorded two more saves as the scarlet and white pitched a second half shutout to prevail 3-2.
