14 Players Score in Women's Basketball's 94-29 Win Against Fitchburg State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (3-0) welcomed Fitchburg State (1-1) to the Kneller for their home-opener and cruised to a 94-29 victory on Wednesday night in which 14 Cougars scored.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars opened the game on a 9-2 run as first-year Cyriah Coleman netted five points and made layups from graduate student Alaina Schatzabel and sophomore Kailey Rios.
  • After the Falcons pulled back within two at 11-9. Clark ended the quarter with nine unanswered points as sophomore Catherine Antwi scored five points and both Rios and Coleman netted two points as the scarlet and white took a 20-9 lead into the second quarter.
  • First-year Alyssa Bordonaro connected on a triple early in the second quarter as Clark led 25-11 before the Cougars exploded for the contests next 11 points as Schatzabel added four points and sophomore Emma Drefs, Coleman, Faulise, and sophomore Olivia Shipley all scored to extend the edge to 36-14.
  • Rios buried a three-pointer off a feed from Coleman right before the half as Clark took a 39-21 lead into the break.
  • Over the first six minutes of the third quarter, Clark went on a 25-0 run sparked by seven points from Schatzabel, six from Rios and Coleman, four from Faulise, and two from Antwi as the Cougars led 64-21 with 4:18 remaining in the third quarter.
  • First-year Juliette Tarsa, Rios, and senior Megan Swedberg all scored over the remainder of the period as the Cougars took a 70-25 lead into the fourth.
  • In the fourth quarter, Bordonaro, sophomore Bella Galatt, junior Ashley Leighton, first-year Elyse Cho, Tarsa, and first-year Eliana Wood all scored as the Cougars prevailed 94-29.

  • Clark grabbed 69 rebounds, connected on eight three-pointers, dished out 24 assists, registered 19 steals, and forced 33 turnovers.
  • Rios and Coleman led the team with 15 points each and added three steals.
  • Schatzabel nearly registered a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.
  • Faulise also reached double-figures with 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
  • Bordonaro and Tarsa each recorded a team-leading four assists and added six points.

What's Next
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Regis to the Kneller for a non-conference matchup beginning at 2:00 p.m.
