Four in Double-Figures as Men's Basketball Tops Baruch, 79-69

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's basketball team (2-3) hosted their first of a two-game homestand against Baruch (2-4) and came away with a 79-69 victory over the Bearcats on Saturday afternoon from the Kneller Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • Clark connected on three triples early in the game as junior Reid Neumann, graduate student Jordan Richard, and first-year Kyle Squires each hit one as the Cougars led 11-7 with 15:43 remaining in the half.
  • Senior Ian Calabrese, senior Kekoa McArdle, and Richard each made layups over the next three minutes before another McArdle layup to put the Cougars up 20-14.
  • Richard connected on another triple in the middle of the half before Neumann and Calabrese each hit three-pointers to push the lead into double-digits at 31-20 with 6:00 to play.
  • Richard and senior Bruce Saintilus scored Clark's final five points of the first half as the Cougars took a 36-27 lead into the half.
  • McArdle and Richard combined to score the Cougars first seven points of the second half Clark held onto a 43-37 edge before the Bearcats netted five straight points to cut the deficit to one at 43-42 with 15:43 left in the contest.
  • Calabrese connected on a triple to end Baruch's run and a layup from sophomore Christopher Clarke with 11:43 to play gave the scarlet and white a 50-47 advantage.
  • Clark then went on a 9-2 run as Neumann, Saintilus, and Calabrese all scored three points and a layup from McArdle with 7:40 remaining gave the Cougars a 61-50 lead.
  • Calabrese then buried a pair of three-pointers to push the advantage to 13 and another Richard three-pointer extended the edge to 72-59 with 3:06 to play.
  • Clarke helped seal the game for the Cougars hitting on a triple with 2:12 left and a pair of free throws down the stretch helped the scarlet and white come away with a 79-69 victory.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Cougars grabbed 48 rebounds, made 15 three-pointers, dished out 25 assists, and recorded nine steals.
  • Richard and Calabrese each scored 17 points and both connected on five three-pointers.
  • McArdle recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Saintilus nearly tallied a double-double with 13 points and a team-leading nine assists.
  • Neumann added nine points and nine rebounds, while connecting on three triples.
What's Next
Clark will play their final game before the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday night when they welcome Husson to the Kneller for a non-conference contest beginning at 6:00 p.m.
