Women's Basketball Closes Out Road Tilt With 81-80 Loss to Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (7-4) closed out their six-game road stint at Framingham State (6-4) and despite leading entering the fourth quarter, the Rams came away with an 81-80 victory over the Cougars on Tuesday night.

How it Happened
  • The scarlet and white opened the game with a 7-6 lead sparked by a three-pointer from sophomore Kailey Rios and buckets from both graduate students Alaina Schatzabel and Jacqueline Faulise.
  • Schatzabel and first-year Cyriah Coleman combined for Clark's final three points of the period as the Cougars trailed 13-10.
  • Rios tied the game early in the second with a made triple before the Rams scored seven unanswered and Faulise connected on a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to five.
  • Rios led the team with six more points down the stretch as well as buckets from Coleman, Schatzabel, first-year Juliette Tarsa, sophomore Catherine Antwi, sophomore Olivia Shipley, and junior Ashley Leighton as Framingham State led 40-33 at the break.
  • Coleman, Faulise, and sophomore Emma Drefs combined for Clark's first six points of the second half and an and-one from Schatzabel brought the Cougars back within seven at 51-44.
  • Coleman and Schatzabel scored the Cougars next nine points before a made layup from Tarsa helped the scarlet and white pull back within one and seven unanswered to end the quarter from Coleman/Rios gave Clark a 63-58 advantage.
  • The Rams opened the fourth with six straight points before Faulise ended the run with a made layup and a pair of made free throws from Coleman gave the scarlet and white a 67-66 edge.
  • Rios and Schatzabel scored four unanswered to regain the lead before a free throw from Faulise made it a 74-72 game in favor of the home team with 2:23 remaining.
  • Coleman and Faulise combined for the team's next five points to keep it a two-point contest at 79-77 with 0:05 to play.
  • After a pair of made free throws from the Rams extended the lead to four, Rios hit a three at the buzzer as the Cougars fell 81-80 to Framingham State.

  • Rios led the team with 20 points, including six made three-pointers.
