Season-High 18 Made Three Pointers Paces Men's Basketball Past Wheaton, 100-85

NORTON, Mass. – The Clark University men's basketball team (4-3, 1-0 NEWMAC) opened NEWMAC play for the second season in a row against Wheaton (4-5, 0-1 NEWMAC) and came away with a convincing 100-85 victory sparked by a season-high 18 three-pointers, while seeing six reach double-figures on Wednesday night from Emerson Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • Clark jumped out to an early 13-4 lead sparked by eight points from sophomore Quentin Pridgen, a made three-pointer from graduate student Jordan Richard and a layup from senior Kekoa McArdle.
  • After Wheaton cut the deficit to six, senior Bruce Saintilus hit a pair of triples and a three-pointer from first-year Boluwasefe John gave the scarlet and white a 22-7 advantage.
  • John and Saintilus combined to score Clark's next six points before a layup from McArdle off a feed from Pridgen gave the Cougars a 30-15 edge with 11:00 to play in the first half.
  • The Cougars hot shooting start continued as first-year Kyle Squires, senior Ian Calabrese, and junior Reid Neumann each buried three-pointers as Clark possessed a 39-25 edge.
  • Over the final 6:00 minutes of the first half, Squires paced the team with five points, while Neumann connected on the team's 14th three-pointer of the first half to close out the period as the Cougars took a 52-37 lead into the break.
  • Pridgen and Neumann came out firing to open the second half with a pair of three-pointers and a pair of layups from McArdle extended the advantage to 64-45.
  • John scored six of Clark's next eight points including a dunk off a feed from Calabrese off an inbounds as the scarlet and white possessed a 72-50 lead with 13:16 remaining.
  • After seven straight Wheaton points, first-year Nathan Charlot ended the run with a pair of free throws before Saintilus scored the Cougars next four points as the Cougars held a 79-64 advantage.
  • Neumann, Pridgen, Saintilus, and McArdle all scored over the next four minutes as Clark extended their lead to 87-71 with 3:32 to play.
  • The Cougars closed the door on the Lyons late as Richard connected on a three-pointer, McArdle, Saintilus, sophomore Christopher Clarke, and Neumann all scored down the stretch as Clark came away with a 100-85 win over Wheaton.

  • The Cougars shot 55.6 percent from the floor, grabbed 36 rebounds, made 18 three-pointers, dished out a season-high 27 assists, and recorded seven steals.
  • Saintilus recorded his first double-double of the season with 20 points and a career-high 11 assists.
  • McArdle tallied his third double-double of the year and third in four games with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Pridgen added 16 points, a game-high five steals, and five assists.
  • Neumann (12), John (12), and Richard (11) also reached double-figures for the scarlet and white.

The scarlet and white will play their final game before the holiday break when they welcome Salve Regina to the Kneller on Saturday for a contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
