Women's Basketball Drops Road Game at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Clark women's basketball team (7-3) traveled to Williams (5-3) for a weekend contest against the Ephs and fell 71-58 on Saturday afternoon from Chandler Gymnasium.

How it Happened
  • The Ephs jumped out to an early 10-2 lead sparked by eight points from Arianna Gerig, with the Clark bucket coming from graduate student Alaina Schatzabel before sophomore Emma Drefs made a layup.
  • Sophomore Catherine Antwi connected on a three-pointer and points from both Drefs and sophomore Olivia Shipley as the Cougars trailed 24-10 after one quarter of play.
  • After trailing by 18, sophomore Kailey Rios scored Clark's next six points before Drefs and Schatzabel each scored as the Ephs led 37-20 with 2:18 remaining in the second.
  • Faulise then netted six points and a layup right before the half from Schatzabel brought the Cougars back within 13 at 41-28 entering the break.
  • Rios buried a three-pointer right out of the half and first-year Cyriah Coleman connected on a triple later in the quarter as Clark trailed 47-34.
  • Faulise, Antwi, and first-year Juliette Tarsa all scored over the next two minutes as the Ephs entered the fourth quarter with a 53-40 advantage.
  • Schatzabel and Rios combined to score a quick five points to open the fourth and over the remainder of the game, Tarsa and Schatzabel combined to score 13 points as the Cougars fell 71-58.
Inside the Box Score
  • Clark grabbed 45 rebounds, dished out eight assists, and forced 14 turnovers.
  • Schatzabel posted her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Rios also reached double-figures with 12 points.
  • Tarsa added nine points and five rebounds.
  • Drefs tallied eight rebounds and scored six points.
What's Next
The Cougars will play their final game before the holidays and close out their road trip when they travel to Framingham State on Tuesday for a contest beginning at 6:00 p.m.
