Men's Lacrosse Records 13-8 Victory Over Plymouth State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (3-4) hosted Plymouth State (5-1) in their pride game on Wednesday night from Granger Field and snapped the Panthers five game-winning streak with a 13-8 victory.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead as junior Matt Wells scored and Wells netted his second goal with 8:04 to go in the first as Clark led 2-0.
  • After Plymouth State answered with a pair of goals, senior Colin Howard got on the board to take a 3-2 edge and despite a save from graduate student Dylan Harloff, the game was tied 3-3 after one quarter of action.
  • The Panthers took a lead early in the second quarter before senior Matthew Minkwitz was able to tie the game off a feed from fellow senior Attilio LaVecchia as the contest was tied at 4-4.
  • Harloff registered a pair of saves after Plymouth State scored again and senior Byron Palmieri scored off a feed from first-year Tate Gorman before the half as the team's entered the half even at 5-5.
  • LaVecchia opened the third quarter with a goal off a feed from Wells and junior Ryan Kerr scored off a pass from LaVecchia as Clark took a 7-5 lead with 11:33 to go in the period.
  • After a Panther goal, Harloff stopped three shots before Minkwitz put Clark back up two goals at 8-6 to end the third quarter.
  • Gorman scored off a feed from Wells and Wells found the back of the net off a pass from Howard as the Cougars took a 10-6 advantage with 9:13 remaining.
  • Clark's defense held strong over the final 9:13 as they held the Panthers to two goals and got a pair of goals from Minkwitz and a goal from Kerr as the Cougars came away with a 13-8 victory.
