Women's Lacrosse Records Convincing 16-4 Victory Over Curry in Pride Game

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (4-3) hosted Curry (4-4) in their pride game on Wednesday night and recorded a convincing 16-4 victory from a snowy Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Clark jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when sophomore Elizabeth Cacciapaglia found the back of the net off a feed from graduate student Elizabeth Liakos.
  • Liakos then netted the Cougars next two goals, including a free position goal to put Clark up 3-0 and before the quarter ended, junior Annie Battle registered a save and goal from junior Erin Lucas and graduate student Kiley Simmons as the scarlet and white took a 5-0 lead into the second quarter.
  • Clark ripped off three straight goals to open the second quarter as senior Mary Greene, Cacciapaglia, and Lucas each found the back of the net to five the Cougars a commanding 8-0 advantage.
  • After a pair of Colonel goals, Greene and senior Greer McCarty both scored before the end of the half as Clark took a 10-2 lead into the locker room.
  • The scarlet and white continued to dominate time of possession as well as the pace of play as they outscored Curry 4-0 in the third with goals from Cacciapaglia, Simmons, and two from Liakos as the Cougars entered the fourth quarter up 14-2.
  • Junior Aubrey Conners and McCarty added Clark's two goals in the fourth as the Cougars came away with a convincing 16-4 win.

  • Clark attempted 29 shots, forced 34 turnovers, scooped up 26 ground balls, and won 12 draw controls.
  • Liakos netted a team-leading four goals and dished out an assist.
  • Cacciapaglia added three goals, eight draw controls, and an assist.
  • Greene, Lucas, and Simmons each registered two goals and an assist.
  • McCarty recorded two goals and scooped four ground balls.
What's Next
The Cougars will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Wellesley to Granger in a NEWMAC clash beginning at 1:00 p.m.
