Men's Lacrosse Falls to Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-2 NEWMAC) traveled to Salve Regina (3-4, 2-0 NEWMAC) for the first time since the Seahawks joined the NEWMAC and fell 19-5 on Saturday afternoon from Gaudet Field.

How it Happened
  • Senior Colin Howard found fellow senior Matthew Minkwitz early in the game and Minkwitz found the back of the cage to give the Cougars an early 1-0 advantage.
  • Despite six saves and a shot from Howard that was saved, the Cougars allowed five straight goals to end the period as the Seahawks took a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.
  • After another Salve goal, first-year Tate Gorman scored off a feed from Minkwitz as Clark cut the deficit to 6-2.
  • Minkwitz put a pair of shots on goal that were saved in the middle of the second quarter and Harloff recorded four more saves before the half as Clark trailed 10-2.
  • Senior Patrick Liddy scored a goal early in the third off a pass from fellow senior Attilio LaVecchia and Liddy later returned the favor by finding LaVecchia for a man-up goal as Salve led 15-4.
  • Liddy scored Clark's final goal of the game while senior Brennan Hare stopped six shots and first-year Josh Reno tallied a pair of saves as the Seahawks recorded a 19-5 win.
