Men's Lacrosse Bested by Trinity on Tuesday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (3-7) welcomed Trinity (4-4) to Granger for the first of a two-game homestand and fell 14-6 to the Bantams on Tuesday night.

How it Happened
  • Senior Colin Howard gave Clark an early 1-0 lead with a goal off a good clear and after a save from graduate student Dylan Harloff, junior Matt Wells scooped up a ground ball and found the back of the cage to extend the advantage to 2-0 with 9:58 to play in the first.
  • Harloff recorded five more saves in the middle of the first before Howard netted his second goal of the evening to put Clark up 3-1.
  • The Bantams scored the final two goals of the first quarter to tie the game at 3-3 and early in the second, senior Patrick Liddy nearly gave Clark the lead, but had his shot stopped by Alex Acker.
  • After two more Trinity goals, Liddy found a cutting senior Matthew Minkwitz and Minkwitz scored to pull Clark within one at 5-4 with 8:29 to go in the first half.
  • Despite four more Harloff saves in the half and a goal from first-year Tate Gorman off a feed from Howard, the Cougars trailed 9-5 at the break.
  • Trinity scored five goals in the third quarter to take a 14-5 lead entering the fourth and in the fourth, Minkwitz found LaVecchia and LaVecchia scored as Clark held the Bantams scoreless in the fourth, but still fell 14-6.

  • Howard led the team with two goals and an assist.
  • Minkwitz added a goal and an assist.

The Cougars will return to the field on Saturday night when they welcome Coast Guard to Granger for a NEWMAC contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
