Women's Lacrosse Coasts to 13-5 NEWMAC Win Over Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (7-7, 3-5 NEWMAC) traveled to Mount Holyoke (1-12, 0-6 NEWMAC) in a road NEWMAC clash and came away with a convincing 13-5 win on Saturday afternoon from the MHC Turf Field.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when junior Erin Lucas converted a free position shot less than three minutes into the game.
  • Clark then netted three unanswered goals as first-year Kami LaBella (Assist sophomore Elizabeth Cacciapaglia), graduate student Sophie Didier (Assist graduate student Greer McCarty), and graduate student Elizabeth Liakos (Assist Didier) as the Cougars led 4-0.
  • After Mount Holyoke scored a goal, Liakos answered back with a man-down goal before junior Annie Battle tallied four saves within a minute as Clark held a 5-1 advantage.
  • Lucas scored her second goal of the game in the second quarter as Clark took a 6-3 edge into the half.
  • Liakos and Lucas (Assist Liakos) scored the only two goals of the third and Battle stopped two more shots as the Cougars defense dominated the quarter as they led 8-3 heading into the fourth.
  • Lucas (Assist LaBella) and junior Aubrey Conners scored the first two goals of the fourth to go up 10-3 with 12:32 to play.
  • Clark ended the game on a 3-2 run as Didier (Assist Cacciapaglia), Cacciapaglia, and graduate student Kiley Simmons (Assist senior Mary Greene) each scored to give the Cougars a 13-5 win.
