Men's Tennis Closes Regular Season With 8-1 Win Over Emerson

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's tennis team (11-5, 4-3 NEWMAC) completed their 2023-24 regular season with a convincing 8-1 win over Emerson (6-12, 1-6 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from North Reading High School.

The Cougars earned the No. 4 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament and will host No. 5 Springfield on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Doubles: Clark 3, Emerson 0 Singles: Clark 5, Emerson 1
  • Shepherd-Johnson battled with Nocchi in number one singles after taking the first set 6-4, fell 4-6 in the second, and won the third 10-2.
  • Kirkorian topped Sevikul 6-1, 6-1 in number two action.
  • Honnef's match in number three singles against Ishizuka went three sets as Honnef took set one 6-2, fell 6-3 in the second, and won 10-5 in the deciding set.
  • Hovey registered a 6-2, 6-1 victory in number five singles over Mesaros.
  • In number six singles, Seraj came away with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Leeves-Coben.
  • Russo won four games in each set of number four singles, but fell 6-4, 6-4 to Almeida.

The Cougars are set to host No. 5 Springfield in the NEWMAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 3:00 p.m.
