WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (5-7, 1-5 NEWMAC) welcomed Smith (6-7, 3-3 NEWMAC) to Granger and were edged 18-7 by the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon.
- Junior Erin Lucas gave Clark an early 1-0 lead off a feed from graduate student Elizabeth Liakos within the first minute of action.
- Junior Annie Battle stopped three shots before the Pioneers scored two goals and junior Aubrey Conners tied the game at 2-2 with 5:26 left in the first.
- Smith added a goal before the end of the first and after four more Smith goals, Lucas netted a man-up goal as the scarlet and white trailed 9-3 at the break.
- After two Smith goals to open the second half, Liakos netted a free position goal and late in the third quarter, graduate student Kiley Simmons scored a man-down goal off a pass from Lucas as Clark trailed 15-5.
- Liakos and Conners each scored in the fourth quarter as the Cougars fell 18-7.
