Women's Soccer Begins 2024 With 3-1 Win Against Nichols

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (1-0-0) opened the 2024 campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Nichols (0-1-1) on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Gabrielle Huryn recorded her first save of the season in the fourth minute off a shot from Falyn Hunt.
  • First-year Selene Hammad applied pressure down the right side of the pitch in the 10th minute and sent a ball into fellow first-year Georgia Louis, with Louis's first shot getting saved, but Louis stuck with the play and gave the team a 1-0 lead.
  • Nichols tied the game up at 1-1 as Grace Killman found the back of the net and before the half, senior Isabella Ramirez attempted a pair of shots that were stopped as the team's entered the break tied.
  • In the 67th minute, Louis broke down the right sideline and crossed the ball over to Ramirez and Ramirez made a move to beat the goalie and give the Cougars a 2-1 advantage.
  • Senior Isabel Echeverry added an insurance goal in the 77th minute when Louis sent a ball in that was tapped over by Ramirez and found Echeverry's foot to give Clark a 3-1 lead.
  • Huryn recorded a save in the 79th minute, which went down as the final shot on target for the Bison as Clark came away with a 3-1 victory.

  • The Cougars attempted 14 shots (seven on target) and earned three corner kicks.
  • Louis netted her first career collegiate goal and also added a pair of assists.
  • Ramirez tallied a goal and an assist.
