Women's Soccer Falls to Middlebury on Wednesday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (1-1-0) competed in their second home game of the season when they welcomed Middlebury (1-0-0) to Granger and fell 1-0 to the Panthers on Wednesday night from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Middlebury took a 1-0 edge less than a minute into the game when Abby Ward scored off a double assist from Chloe Swindle and Carolina Espinosa.
  • First-year Georgia Louis attempted the Cougars first shot of the contest a minute later that was blocked and in the fifth minute, senior netminder Anabella White stopped Ward's shot.
  • Senior Isabella Ramirez serviced in a corner kick in the 13th minute that was cleared by the Panther backline before both defenses settled into the game.
  • White recorded three more saves over the final seven minutes of the half as Middlebury took a 1-0 lead into the break.
  • Lucy Patton put the first shot on goal of the second half that White stopped and in the 63rd minute, senior Ashlee Samuel registered a defensive save.
  • First-year Madeleine Reeves serviced in a free kick in the 86th minute that was heading to the top right corner of the goal, but Poppinga tallied a save.
  • First-year Selene Hammad attempted the game's final shot in the 89th minute, but put it just wide of the target as Clark fell 1-0.
