WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (0-1-1) played in their second match of the season, facing another CCC opponent in WNE (1-0-1) and battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Diego Marin recorded the first save of the match in the fourth minute when Hunter Perry put a shot on target before senior Zachary Kratz put the team's first shot of the game just high with a header from the right side of the box.
- In the 18th minute, junior Mauro Perez Colon sent a shot just high of the goal before sophomore Evan Thompson put the Cougar's first shot on goal off a free kick that got deflected by Braylon Casingho to force a corner.
- Junior Ben Siegel put Clark's final shot on goal of the half with a header off a corner serviced in by Thompson that was saved as the Cougars and Golden Bears entered the half tied at 0-0.
- In the 48th minute, senior Lucas Saia collected the ball outside the left side of the box and buried a right-footed shot that beat the keeper to give the scarlet and white a 1-0 lead.
- Marin denied a shot from Tyler Lewis less than a minute later and Siegel nearly the edge to two with a header that was stopped by Casinghino in the 54th minute.
- Perez Colon put a shot put a shot on target in the 60th minute that was saved and fired another shot on goal in the 62nd minute that was stopped.
- The Bears tied the game at 1-1 in the 71st minute when Keegan Reim fired a shot that beat Marin to the right corner.
- Marin came up with a save in the 75th minute on a shot from Reim and registered another save in the 77th minute off a strike from Jake Thibodeau.
- Siegel got behind the Golden Bear backline on the counter and had his shot stopped by Casinghino as the Cougars continued to apply pressure on the WNE defense.
- Kratz broke down the right sideline in the 86th minute and Siegel found him, but Casinghino came up with another save, which went down as the final shot on goal as the game went down as a 1-1 tie.
