Siegel Nets Two Goals in Men's Soccer's 3-0 Win Over Wentworth

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (1-1-1) closed out their three-game homestand on Thursday night under the lights with a match against Wentworth (1-2-0) and came away with a convincing 3-0 victory from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Junior Ben Siegel gave Clark an early 1-0 lead after sophomore Evan Thompson passed a corner into junior Henry Kuerbis and Thompson sent the ball into Siegel, with Siegel headed the ball into the back of the net in the second minute.
  • Senior Colin Ruiz nearly extended the lead to two with a shot on target that was saved and in the 12th minute, Siegel sent a shot in from just outside the box that hit the post.
  • In the 14th minute, Kuerbis got behind the Leopard defense and had his shot saved by Lawless before senior Lucas Saia put a shot on goal that was stopped.
  • Junior Diego Marin recorded his first save of the night in the 17th minute and later stopped a shot attempt from Younes Henniche in the 21st minute.
  • First-year Gediwon Williams attempted Clark's final shot of the half from outside the box and Lawless came away with a save as the Cougars took a 1-0 edge into the locker room.
  • Siegel scored his second goal of the match in the 51st minute off a throw-in from Williams to extend the Cougar advantage to 2-0.
  • Siegel nearly registered a hat trick off a service in from Kuerbis, but his header hit the crossbar in the 60th minute.
  • Marin tallied a pair of stops in the 61st and 62nd minute to keep the Leopards out of the goal.
  • Junior Mauro Perez Colon made a move in the middle of the pitch in the 71st, but Lawless came away with the stop.
  • Saia added the squad's third goal of the match off a double assist from senior Colin Ruiz and sophomore Charles Lopez to help guide Clark to a 3-0 victory.

  • Clark attempted 18 shots (nine on target) and earned four corner kicks.
  • Siegel scored his first two goals of the season and second and third of his career.
  • Saia added his second goal of the year and fifth as a Cougar.
