Field Hockey Cruises to 7-0 Victory Over Gordon

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (3-1) closed out a three-game homestand with a convincing 7-0 win over Gordon (0-5) on Tuesday night from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Jenna Beauchain gave Clark an early 1-0 off a made penalty stroke in the third minute.
  • Graduate student Greer McCarty extended the lead to 2-0 after tipping a feed-in from senior Autumn Golding.
  • Prior to the end of the first quarter, junior Ciaran Cubbage, junior Alison Kopec, McCarty, and junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia all put shots on target and pressure on the Fighting Scot as the Cougars took a 2-0 edge into the second quarter.
  • Off a penalty corner, Cacciapaglia sent a ball in towards the cage that was redirected by Cubbage and Cubbage put the ball past the goalie to extend the lead to 3-0.
  • In the 20th minute, McCarty found Golding and Golding converted as the Cougars pushed the edge to 4-0.
  • Cubbage scored Clark's final goal of the first half off a feed from Kopec as the scarlet and white took a 5-0 lead into the half.
  • Junior Morgan Brown and senior Becca Murphy both saw shots hit the post early in the third quarter and in the rest of the period Cubbage and Cacciapaglia each put shots on goal that were stopped.
  • In the fourth quarter, McCarty scored off a feed from Cacciapaglia and Beauchain added her second goal of the game as the Cougars came away with a convincing 7-0 win.

  • Beauchain netted her second and third goals of the season and career.
  • McCarty tallied her third and fourth goals of the year and first assist, while adding 21st career goal and sixth helper.

  • Golding registered her first goal and assist of the campaign, going down as career goal number three and assist number five.
  • Cacciapaglia added her first two career assists.
