Men's Soccer Edged by RIC in 90th Minute

PROVIDENCE, RI. - Clark men's soccer (1-2-2) traveled to RIC (2-1-1) for a midweek non-conference contest against the Anchormen and battled for 90 minutes before falling 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon from Alumni Stadium.

How it Happened
  • Junior Ben Siegel put Clark's first shot on goal of the game that was saved by Wesley Perrotto in the seventh minute.
  • RIC took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when Tariq Adio scored off a feed from Anthony Recinos and in the 23rd minute, senior William Lopez put a shot on target that was stopped.
  • Siegel and senior Lucas Saia applied pressure on the RIC defense in the middle of the first half that were stopped as the Anchormen held a 1-0 edge at the break.
  • Clark applied early pressure sophomore Charles Lopez, Siegel, and sophomore Kofi Poku each attempted shots to try to tie the game back up.
  • First-year Joseph Joannou found Saia up the wing and Saia found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1 in the 71st minute.
  • Junior Diego Marin recorded a pair of saves 77th minute and in the final minute of action, Adio scored off a throw in from Andrew Albamonti to win 2-1.
