AMHERST, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (6-4) traveled to Amherst (8-0) for their lone game of the week and battled with the Mammoths for three sets before falling 3-0 on Tuesday night from LeFrak Gymnasium.
Amherst took the first set 25-22, won the second set 25-18, and closed the match out with a 25-17 victory in the third set.
How it Happened
- The Cougars jumped out to an early 8-3 lead in the first set sparked by kills from senior Camille Sterling and graduate student Victoria Pastor as well as service aces from both senior Yvanna Torres and graduate student Sofia Scherrer del Llano.
- Scherrer del Llano and Pastor recorded kills in the middle of the set before a duo block from graduate student Camille Flurry and sophomore Winifred Gakidis as Clark held a 19-16 edge.
- After the Mammoths rallied to win the first set, Clark jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the second set as first-year Isabella Alcott and sophomore Julia Dopazo each registered kills.
- Pastor recorded three kills over the team's next four points and a pair of Flurry kills made it an 11-9 set before two more Pastor kills pulled the Cougars within four at 18-14.
- Flurry registered the Cougars final two points of the set off feeds from Dopazo before jumping out to a 6-2 edge in the third set as Scherrer del Llano, Alcott, and Sterling all recorded kills.
- Down 15-11 in the third, a Mammoth service error and kills from both Pastor and Sterling brought the Cougars back within one at 15-14.
- Pastor added a pair of kills before the end of the set as the Mammoths came away with a 25-17 victory.

- Pastor led the team with 12 kills and added eight digs.
