Herivaux Nets Two Goals in 3-0 Win Over Fitchburg State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (3-3-0) hosted Fitchburg State (0-6-0) in their first match of the week and came away with a convincing 3-0 victory over the Falcons on Wednesday night from Granger Field.

What Happened
  • First-year Selene Hammad put Clark's first shot of the game on target in the eighth minute that was saved by Madison Dawkins.
  • Senior Isabella Ramirez broke into the left side of the box and first-year Madeleine Reeves attempted to curve a shot in from outside the box with both getting saved to keep the match tied.
  • First-year Georgia Louis, sophomore Sadie Cohen, and junior Gabriella Herivaux each had shots hit the crossbar as the Cougars offense continued to apply constant pressure on the Falcons backline.
  • Off a Falcon free kick, Reeves won the ball, flicked it to Herivaux and Herivaux beat Dawkins to give Clark a 1-0 edge in the 40th minute.
  • With 0:15 remaining in the first half, graduate student Grace Oelkers sent a ball down the field that Dawkins misplayed and sophomore Amanda Leiva took the ball and put the ball in the back of the goal to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead at the break.
  • Hammad opened the second half with a shot saved and senior Anabella White recorded her first save of the match in the 51st minute off a shot from Stella Liebler.
  • Herivaux netted her second goal of the match off a double assist from Hammad and a flick from Louis as Clark held a 3-0 edge in the 52nd minute.
  • Sophomore Ainsley Golini and Louis also put shots on target and White stopped her second shot before the end of the match as the Cougars recorded a 3-0 victory.

  • The Cougars attempted 23 shots in the match and earned four corner kicks.
  • Herivaux recorded her first two goals of the season and 10th/11th of her career.
  • Leiva registered her first career goal.
  • Reeves tallied the first assist of her career.
  • Louis recorded her fourth assist of the season.

  • White stopped two shots and collected her second shutout of the year.
