Men's Soccer Opens NEWMAC Play With 0-0 Draw Against Wheaton

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (3-2-3, 0-0-1 NEWMAC) welcomed Wheaton (3-3-2, 0-0-1 NEWMAC) to Granger Field for their NEWMAC opener and played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon after 90 hard fought minutes.

How it Happened
  • Both defenses and midfields controlled the first 20 minutes of action before junior Diego Marin tallied a save off a shot attempt from Gael Vera in the 21st minute.
  • Marin recorded his second save of the half in the 29th minute before sophomore Carter Benoff serviced in a corner kick that was cleared away by the Lyons.
  • Senior William Lopez attempted a shot in the 35th minute that went high of goal and right before the half, Marin registered another save as the teams were tied at the break.
  • Jonathan Didario recorded the first shot on target of the second half with Marin tallying a save before Lopez fired a pair of shots on goal that were saved by Michael O'Gara.
  • Junior Mauro Perez Colon found shooting space in the 57th minute, but sent his shot high of the goal and Marin registered another save shortly after to keep the match tied.
  • The final chance of the match came in the 90th minute when Leao Nelson created a chance that Marin stopped to play to a 0-0 draw.
