SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (3-3-3, 0-1-1 NEWMAC) suffered their first NEWMAC loss of the season with a 3-1 defeat against Springfield (3-4-1, 2-0-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon from Brock-Affleck Field.
How it Happened
- Junior Ben Siegel recorded Clark's first shot on target in the fifth minute that was saved by Noah Pote and in the 24th minute, senior William Lopez fired a shot on goal that was stopped.
- Before the end of the first half, seniors Zachary Kratz and Lucas Saia put shots on goal that were saved and junior Diego Marin stopped a shot before the break as the teams entered the half tied at 0-0.
- The Pride jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Connor Policarpio converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute.
- Marin recorded two more saves in the middle of the second half before Springfield doubled their lead off a goal from Morgan Thibodeau in the 72nd minute.
- William Lopez and sophomore Charles Lopez each put shots on goal that were stopped before senior Tyler Manley scored off a feed from junior Henry Kuerbis to pull Clark within one at 2-1 in the 84th minute.
- Springfield extended their lead back to two at 3-1 when Policarpio found the back of the net as the Pride recorded a 3-1 victory.
