Field Hockey Drops Road Match at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. – The Clark University field hockey team (4-4) traveled to Keene State (8-0) for an early week non-conference match and fell 6-3 to the Owls on Tuesday night from the Owl Athletic Complex.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Rachel Reiter stopped a pair of shots in the first minute of the game before the Owls scored when Grace Bazin scored off a feed from Meghan Daileanes in the third minute.
  • Junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia tied the match up at 1-1 in the fifth minute and later in the first quarter, junior Morgan Brown put a shot on goal as the Owls took a 3-1 lead into the second quarter with two more goals from Bazin.
  • Brown scored Clark's second goal of the game off an assist from senior Becca Murphy as the Cougars made it a 4-2 contest in the 27th minute.
  • Junior Jenna Beauchain took a corner right before the half and found graduate student Rachael Romain, with Romain finding the back of the cage to make it a 5-3 contest heading into the break.
  • Senior Autumn Golding nearly brought Clark within a goal with a shot on target that Katelyn Nicotera and junior Loren Root stopped two shots early in the half.
  • Junior Emma Macinitire recorded a defensive save in the 41st and before the end of the third, Romain, Cacciapaglia, and junior Ciaran Cubbage each put shots on target that were saved as the Cougars trailed 5-3 entering the fourth.
  • Early in the fourth quarter, junior Alison Kopec put a pair of shots on goal that were saved and both Romain and Cubbage each had shots stopped.
  • Murphy and Cacciapaglia each put shots on target that were saved as the scarlet and white fell 6-3 to the Owls.

  • Clark attempted 16 shots (15 on target) and earned nine penalty corners.
  • Cacciapaglia recorded her first goal of the year and third of her career.
  • Brown scored her first goal as a Cougar.

What's Next
The scarlet and white will return to the field on Saturday afternoon when they travel across town for a matchup with WPI beginning at 4:30 p.m. The match will be an Athlete Ally/Pride Game.
