Women's Soccer Bested by Worcester State in Non-Conference Finale

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (3-5-0) closed out non-conference play with a crosstown road match at Worcester State (2-4-1) and fell 1-0 to the Lancers on Wednesday night from John Coughlin Field.

What Happened
  • Senior Anabella White recorded three saves in the first 12 minutes of action to keep the match tied at 0-0 before first-year Georgia Louis created a chance in the 17th minute that was stopped by Ella Gumienny.
  • Both defenses controlled the tempo over the next 15 minutes before White tallied another save off a shot attempt from Olivia Magierowski in the 31st minute.
  • White stopped another shot before the half and Clark earned a pair of corners that were cleared by the Lancers as the teams entered the break in a scoreless tie.
  • First-year Selene Hammad recorded the first shot on target of the second half in the 59th minute before the Lancers countered and Ava Lemanski had a shot stopped.
  • Magierowski gave Worcester State a 1-0 lead in the 65th minute and shortly after, senior Cassandra Trevino nearly tied the game with a shot that was stopped by Gumienny.
  • First-years Medeleine Reeves and Lily Houle created the team's final two shots of the game in the closing minutes of action that were again saved by Gumienny as the Lancers recorded a 1-0 victory.
