WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team (3-6-0, 0-2-0 NEWMAC) hosted Springfield (4-1-3, 1-0-1 NEWMAC) in their first home conference match of the season and were edged 1-0 off a Jenn Walker goal in the 86th minute on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.
The Cougars hosted their second leukemia and lymphoma awareness game.
What Happened
- Senior Isabella Ramirez nearly gave Clark an early lead in the seventh minute with a header that hit the crossbar and in the 12th minute, first-year Selene Hammad had her shot attempt stopped by Taryn Ryan as the Cougars controlled the game early.
- First-year Camilla Daigle had a shot blocked in the 27th minute and Clark held the Pride to just two shot attempts in the first half as the Cougars entered the half tied at 0-0.
- Senior Anabella White recorded her first save of the match in the 56th minute off a shot from Molly Baxter and in the 66th minute, Kayla McGrath put a shot on goal that was stopped again by White.
- Sophomore Ainsley Golini attempted a shot and first-year Georgia Louis put a shot on goal that was saved by Ryan in the 68th minute.
- White kept the game tied at 0-0 with her third stop of the contest off a shot attempt from Gabby Scott and in the 86th minute, Natalia Mottura serviced in a corner and eventually found the foot of Jen Walker, with Walker scoring off a volley to propel the Pride to a 1-0 victory.
