Field Hockey Falls to Keene State on Wednesday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (8-6) welcomed Keene State (11-4) to Granger for a midweek clash against the Owls and despite netting two goals, were bested 5-2 on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars earned the first corner of the evening as senior Jenna Beauchain sent the ball over to first-year Carys Mitchell, who saw her shot attempt get blocked.
  • Keene State got on the board in the eighth minute as Grace Bazin scored off a feed from Grace Seabury to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Junior Rachael Reiter stopped a pair of shots in the middle of the quarter before Bazin netted her second goal of the night to extend their edge to 2-0.
  • Senior Alison Kopec fired a shot on target that was saved by Clara Gorman before the end of the quarter as the Owls took a 2-0 advantage into the second.
  • Reiter stopped two shots to open the second before Beauchain scored off a corner off a feed from first-year Olivia Bass to make it a 2-1 contest.
  • Bazin netted her third goal of the half with 0:10 to go as the off a pass from Seabury as the Owls took a 3-1 lead into the break.
  • In the 39th minute, senior Morgan Brown Clark's second goal of the evening in the circle as the Cougars pulled to within one at 3-2.
  • Kopec nearly tied the game early in the fourth off a corner that was saved by Gorman before Meghan Daileanes extended the edge to 4-2.
  • Kopec hit the post with a rocket in the circle and with less than four minutes Bazin scored her fourth goal as the Cougars fell 5-2.

  • The scarlet and white recorded 20 shots (four on target) and earned nine penalty corners.
  • Beauchain scored her eighth goal of the season and 13th as a Cougar.
  • Brown netted her eighth goal of the year and 10th of her career.
