WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer (5-5-4, 1-4-2 NEWMAC) welcomed Coast Guard (3-10-2, 2-5-0 NEWMAC) for their pride game and pulled to within one late, but dropped the contest 2-1 to the Bears on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Junior Ava Lepro stopped a pair of shots over the first eight minutes of action before sophomore Selene Hammad serviced in a corner kick in the 13th minute that was cleared away.
  • First-year Calabria Augustino, Hammad, and sophomore Madeleine Reeves all created chances over a five-minute span that went wide of the target before Hammad put Clark's first shot of the half on target, with Julia Little recording a save.
  • Augustino and Reeves both fired shots on goal that were stopped and Lepro recorded a save with 0:03 to go in the first half as the teams entered the break tied at 0-0.
  • Junior Sadie Cohen nearly put Clark in the lead off a free kick with a shot off a free kick that was saved before Teal Wasson and Ella Pottle scored a pair of goals for the Bears over a three-minute stretch as the Bears took a 2-0 edge.
  • In the 70th minute, Louis created Clark's best chance of the afternoon, but Little registered a great diving save to keep the result the same.
  • Louis dribbled down the right side of the pitch and crossed the ball into the box, where junior Ainsley Golini received the pass and found the back of the net to make it a 2-1 contest in the 78th minute.
