SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (1-20, 0-9 NEWMAC) traveled to Springfield (21-5, 8-1 NEWMAC) and fell in straight sets to the Pride on Tuesday night from Blake Arena.
The Cougars dropped the first two sets 25-9 and battled to a 25-19 loss in the final set.
How it Happened
	- The scarlet and white held an early 4-3 edge sparked by a kill from sophomore Isabella Alcott and after another kill from Alcott off a feed from sophomore Hannah Harrington, the Pride rattled off 16 of the next 18 points as they held a 21-9 edge.
- A pair of errors by the Pride gave the Cougars two more points in the set as they fell 25-9 and trailed 10-1 to open the second set.
- Junior Winifred Gakidis tallied a kill and four more from Alcott in the middle of the set made it a 15-7 match before Venis registered the Cougars final kill of the second as they dropped the set 25-9.
- Clark jumped out to a 5-2 edge in the third set as junior Julia Dopazo recorded a service ace and Gakidis tallied another kill off a pass from Dopazo.
- After Springfield tied the set at 8-8, Venis and junior Harper Chinn registered kills and Gakidis/junior Katelyn Williams combined for a block as the Pride took a 15-14 advantage.
- First-year Rylie Kimball and Williams closed out the contest with kills, but dropped the final set 25-19.
Inside the Box Score
	- Clark recorded 15 kills, 14 assists, 35 digs, and three blocks.
- Alcott led the team with six kills and added six digs.
- Gakidis tallied three kills and a team-high two blocks.
