Men's Soccer Concedes A Goal in Each Half, Bested 2-0 by Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (3-5-1, 0-2-1 NEWMAC) traveled to Babson (6-4-2, 2-0-0 NEWMAC) in a NEWMAC clash and conceded a goal in each half as the scarlet and white were bested 2-0 on Saturday afternoon from Hartwell-Rogers Field.

How it Happened
  • Babson took an early 1-0 lead as Alexander Yablonovskiy stepped up and buried a penalty kick for the Beavers in the second minute of action.
  • Senior Mauro Perez Colon attempted Clark's first shot of the afternoon in the eighth minute that was blocked by Babson's backline and after neither team created any chances on goal over the next 20 minutes, the Cougars defense tallied a defensive save off a shot from Connor Hanrahan to keep the deficit at one.
  • Before the break, first-year Jacob Ordonez nearly tied the game up with a shot on target that was saved by JB Montague as the Beavers led 1-0 at the half.
  • Yablonovskiy netted his second goal of the afternoon in the 51st minute to extend the edge to 2-0 before senior Diego Marin tallied his first save of the game off a shot from Adam Stetson.
  • Sophomore Jordan Adeyemi created Clark's best chance of the second half in the 81st minute off a header that was saved by Montague and in the 86th minute the Cougars earned a corner, but the Beavers cleared it as they registered a 2-0 victory.

  • Clark attempted three shots (two on target), only allowed four shots on goal, and drew 14 fouls.
  • Ordonez and Adeyemi each fired a pair of shots on goal.
