COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. – Clark University field hockey senior
Alison Kopec earned a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region I Second Team as announced on Wednesday.
NFHCA All-Region Teams
This is Kopec's first NFHCA recognition and is the first Cougar since Olivia Barksdale in 2018 to earn a spot on the All-Region Team. This is yearly is Kopec's second major accolade this year as she was also named to the All-NEWMAC Second Team. Kopec also earned NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week earlier this year on September 15. She has also been named to the NFHCA and NEWMAC All-Academic teams in her career.
"Having Alison recognized on the NFHCA All Region Team this year is the perfect ending to her amazing career here at Clark," said head coach Laura-Ann Lane. "Our Region and Conference are extremely competitive, and to have Alison recognized amongst those strong teams and student athletes is a huge honor. She led the team and conference in assists this year, which is on brand for her, always looking to set the team and others up for success. Each day on the pitch she worked to earn the respect from her team, coaches, umpires and opponents. We are extremely proud of Alison and this massive accomplishment. Well done, Alison!"
Kopec (Redding, Conn.) led the team and the NEWMAC in assists with 10, dishing out an assist in nine different games. She also posted a team-high 24 points and shot attempts (91). The senior added seven goals, which was tied for third on the team and tallied a three-goal effort in a win over UMass-Dartmouth. In a 3-1 NEWMAC win over Wellesley, Kopec recorded a goal and an assist.
Kopec ends her Clark career with 10 goals and 23 assists, which accounts for 43 total points. The 23 career assists tie her for eighth all-time and her 10 assists this season place her in a three-way tie for fifth all-time. She has also earned two All-NEWMAC Academic Team accolades in her career.
