Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 21-4 Victory Over Curry

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (1-0) opened their 2025 with a convincing 21-4 victory over Curry (0-1) on Wednesday afternoon from Granger Field.

How it Happened
  • Senior Matt Wells netted Clark's first goal of the 2025 season with a man-up goal off a feed from graduate student Matthew Minkwitz and later in the quarter, sophomore Eric Aswad found the back of the cage off a pass from junior Brayden Grainger to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Graduate student Casey McCullough registered a pair of saves in the first as the Cougars also got shots on target from junior Thomas Michaud, graduate student Colin Howard, Aswad, Minkwitz, and Wells that were stopped as Clark took a 2-0 edge into the second.
  • Howard extended the Cougars lead to three off a feed from graduate student Patrick Liddy on the man advantage before a goal from junior Brett Newman off a senior Mason Kaufmann pass pushed the advantage to 4-0.
  • Sophomore Jason Shackley added to the lead off a helper from Newman and an unassisted Minkwitz goal pushed the edge to 6-0 with 4:47 to go in the second.
  • After Nicholas Cole got the Colonels on the board, Clark scored four unanswered goals as Wells and graduate student Attilio LaVecchia each netted a pair of goals to push the edge to 10-1.
  • Minkwitz scored off a Howard feed right before the half as the scarlet and white took an 11-2 advantage into the locker room.
  • McCullough tallied three saves in the third quarter for the Cougars as Clark's offense continued to hum, scoring seven goals as Minkwitz tallied two, LaVecchia, Grainger, Kaufmann, Howard, and Aswad all found the back of the cage to give the scarlet and white an 18-2 edge.
  • Wells, senior Alex D'Entrone, and first-year Michael Berman Annunziata all scored to help propel the Cougars to a 21-4 victory.

  • Clark attempted 62 shots, scooped up 71 ground balls, won 20 faceoffs, and forced 38 turnovers.
  • Minkwitz led the team with four goals, added five assists, and scooped up five ground balls.
  • Wells also scored four goals and collected six ground balls.

  • McCullough recorded eight saves in net and earned his first win of the year.
