Women's Lacrosse Drops Home Game to Nichols

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (2-3) welcomed Nichols (4-0) to Granger Field for midweek contest and battled for four quarters with the Bison before falling 16-9 on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • Nichols jumped out to a 1-0 lead before junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia caused a turnover and first-year Grace Steward saved a free position shot attempt.
  • After two more Bison goals, senior Aubrey Conners had a shot saved before Conners found the back of the cage to make it a 3-1 game with 7:46 to go in the first.
  • Cacciapaglia fired another shot on goal that was saved and Seward recorded a save before the end of the quarter as the Bison led 5-1.
  • Senior Meghan Fogarty netted her first goal of the game early in the second off a feed from first-year Paige Kemish as Clark pulled back within three at 5-2.
  • Nichols added three more goals before sophomore Sarah Forrester and Fogarty each scored just over a minute apart as Clark trailed 9-4 with 9:46 remaining in the second.
  • Conners scored the Cougars final goal of the half off a feed from senior Erin Lucas and senior Annie Battle stopped a shot before the break in a 12-5 contest.
  • Clark's offense applied constant pressure early in the third quarter as Fogarty scored less than two minutes into the period and Lucas fired a shot on target that was saved.
  • Battle tallied two saves in the third quarter before Lucas netted her first goal of the contest early in the fourth.
  • Lucas also tallied the Cougars final two goals of the game in the fourth, with the second goal coming off a free position shot as Clark fell 16-9.
