Men's Lacrosse Drops Contest to Salve Regina

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (5-3, 0-2 NEWMAC) welcomed Salve Regina (9-1, 2-0 NEWMAC) to Granger for a Saturday contest and fell 13-7 to the Seahawks.

How it Happened
  • Salve Regina netted the first goal of the game before first-year Michael Berman Annunziata found the back of the cage off a feed from graduate student Matthew Minkwitz to tie the game.
  • Graduate student Casey McCullough tallied five saves over the remainder of the quarter and Minkwitz scored Clark's second goal of the contest as Clark trailed 3-2 after one quarter of play.
  • Junior Thomas Michaud and Minkwitz each created shots on goal early in the second that were saved before the Seahawks pushed their lead to 4-2 as Sumwalt found the back of the cage,
  • Graduate student Patrick Liddy and Minkwitz combined to score two unanswered to tie the game at 4-4 and before the half, Casey Johnson scored as Salve took a 5-4 lead into the break.
  • Salve netted the first four goals of the third before junior Brayden Grainger found sophomore Tate Gorman for a goal to end the run as Clark trailed 9-5.
  • In the fourth, Berman Annunziata and Minkwitz both scored off feeds from Liddy and graduate student Colin Howard in the fourth as the Cougars fell 13-7 to the Seahawks.

  • Clark attempted 29 shots, won nine faceoffs, converted 18 clears, and forced 20 turnovers.
  • Minkwitz led the Cougars with three goals and dished out an assist.
