Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Mass. Maritime, 15-13

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (6-3) traveled to Mass. Maritime (5-2) for their final road non-conference game of the year and outscored the Bucs in both the first and third quarter to come away with a 15-13 victory on Tuesday night from Clean Harbors Stadium.

How it Happened
  • Mass. Maritime took an early 1-0 lead before first-year Michael Berman Annunziata and graduate student Matthew Minkwitz scored off assists from senior Ryan Kerr and junior Lucas Cuda to push Clark's edge to 2-1.
  • After a Buc goal, Clark closed the quarter with four unanswered goals as Minkwitz, first-year Thomas Sheehan, and Berman Annunziata all scored, while graduate student Casey McCullough stopped a pair of shots as the Cougars took a 6-3 lead into the second quarter.
  • Sophomore Tate Gorman found Berman Annunziata for Clark's seventh goal early in the second, but Mass. Maritime netted four unanswered to close the first half to take an 8-7 advantage into the locker room.
  • First-year Spencer Arzanipour won the opening faceoff of the third quarter and took the ball down the field before scoring to tie the game at 8-8.
  • After the Bucs went up 9-8, the Cougars rattled off four unanswered as senior Alex D'Entrone, sophomore Eric Aswad, sophomore John Golioto, and Minkwitz all scored as Clark took a 12-9 edge late in the third.
  • Graduate student Patrick Liddy scored before the end of the quarter shortly after a won faceoff by sophomore Huy Doan as the Cougars led 13-10 entering the fourth.
  • Berman Annunziata netted Clark's first two goals of the fourth to push the Cougars lead as many as four at 15-11 and McCullough stopped shots down the stretch, as well caused turnovers from junior Lucas Cuda and graduate student Jacob Wharton propelled Clark to a 15-13 victory.
