WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (3-6, 1-3 NEWMAC) returned home for the first of a two-game homestand against Springfield (8-1, 4-0 NEWMAC) and dropped the contest 18-3 to the Pride on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Meghan Fogarty created a chance within the first two minutes of play that was saved by Kate Laico and graduate student Mary Greene caused a turnover.
- After the Pride netted a goal, senior Annie Battle stopped three shots in a row before Springfield netted three straight and tallied a free position save as the Cougars trailed 4-0.
- Springfield rattled off five goals within the first four minutes of the second quarter before senior Aubrey Conners fired a shot on target that was saved.
- Battle recorded a save before the break and Greene caused another turnover as the Pride came led 11-0 entering the half.
- Sophomore Sarah Forrester got Clark on the board early in the third quarter off a free position shot and junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia nearly netted the Cougars second goal of the game, but Lindsay Hillemeir tallied a save,
- Cacciapaglia found a cutting Forrester for the Cougars second goal with 2:21 to go in the third and Fogarty saw a shot saved before the end of the period as Clark trailed 13-2 entering the fourth.
- Greene netted a free position goal early in the fourth quarter for Clark's final goal of the afternoon as the Pride prevailed 18-3.
