Fogarty Nets Hat Trick in Loss to Babson

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (3-8, 1-4 NEWMAC) welcomed Babson (6-2, 5-0 NEWMAC) to Granger for their second consecutive home game and fell 20-4 to the Beavers on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
  • Senior Annie Battle stopped a pair of shots early in the contest and tallied two more saves before the end of the period, but Babson tallied seven goals in the first.
  • Sophomore Sarah Forrester netted Clark's first goal of the game with 1:57 to go in the first quarter and Battle recorded two more saves to begin the second quarter,
  • First-year Sydney McMonagle fired a pair of shots and both went wide before the end of the second as the Beavers took a 14-1 lead into the half.
  • Senior Saorla Scully and graduate student Lucy Szpila both caused turnovers to open the third before junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia fired a shot on target that was saved.
  • The Cougars netted their second goal of the game when senior Meghan Fogarty caused a turnover, took the ball, and found the back of the cage to make it a 15-2 contest.
  • Fogarty added two more goals, with the second coming off an assist from senior Erin Lucas as the scarlet and white fell 20-4.

What's Next
The Cougars will return to the field on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Smith for a road NEWMAC contest against the Pioneers beginning at 1:00 p.m.
