Women's Lacrosse Closes Out Non-Conference Play With 13-8 Win Over Fitchburg State

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's lacrosse team (6-9) closed out non-conference play and extended their winning streak to three games with a 13-8 victory over Fitchburg State (2-11) on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
  • Senior Annie Battle stopped a shot less than three minutes into the game before senior Meghan Fogarty scored a pair of goals off assists from fellow senior Erin Lucas to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Despite three saves from Battle and shots wide from senior Aubrey Conners, junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia, and sophomore Sarah Forrester, the Falcons rattled off four straight goals to take a 4-2 edge into the second.
  • Elizabeth Cacciapaglia and Conners both scored within the first three minutes to tie the game before Fogarty added two more goals off passes from Lucas to push the Cougars advantage to 6-4 with 9:07 to play in the second.
  • After a Fitchburg State goal, Clark netted three unanswered goals as graduate student Greer McCarty scored and Cacciapaglia netted a pair of goals to push the edge to 9-5.
  • The Falcons added a goal before the half and scored to open the third to cut the deficit to two before the Cougars rattled off three straight goals as Fogarty scored twice and Cacciapaglia found the back of the cage to extend the lead to 12-7.
  • In the fourth quarter, Battle stopped a shot, Conners and Cacciapaglia each had shots saved, and Conners scored Clark's final goal of the game as the Cougars prevailed 13-8.
