WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's tennis team (4-9) traveled across town for a match against Holy Cross (6-7) and recorded a pair of victories, but fell 5-2 to the Crusaders on Wednesday afternoon from the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility.
How it Happened
Doubles: Holy Cross 2, Clark 1
- Sophomore Aris Kirkorian and junior Edward Shepherd-Johnson played a back-and-forth match in number one action coming away with a 7-6 (7-4) win over Clark and De la Plaza.
- Graduate student Tanner Honnef and senior Ryan Hovey won a pair of games against Carlson and Ling before falling 2-6.
- In number three doubles, junior Graham Russo and first-year Ziad Tabbara won a game in their 1-6 loss to Maggiacomo and Tran Rosado.
Singles: Holy Cross 4, Clark 2
- Hovey recorded Clark's first singles win of the day with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory over Tran Rosado in number five play.
- Tabbara battled with Ling for three sets in number three action as he took the first set 6-3, dropped the second set 1-6, and won the deciding set 14-12.
- In number one singles, Shepherd-Johnson won five games across two sets as he dropped the match 4-6, 1-6 to Callery.
- Russo won three games in each set of number four play against Maggiacomo as he fell 3-6, 3-6.
- In number two singles, Kirkorian won two games in both sets, dropping the match 2-6, 2-6 to Illanes.
- Honnef was bested 1-6, 3-6 by Hayes in number six singles.

The Cougars will return to the court on Saturday when they welcome Coast Guard to the Corash Tennis Courts beginning at 2:30 p.m.
