No. 4 Men's Tennis Bested by No. 1 Babson in NEWMAC Semifinals

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The No. 4 Clark University men's tennis team (8-11) traveled to No. 1 Babson (19-2) for the NEWMAC Semifinal and were bested 7-0 by the Beavers on Friday afternoon from the Babson Tennis Courts.

How it Happened
Doubles: Babson 3, Clark 0 (Babson wins doubles point)
  • In number one doubles, junior Edward Shepherd-Johnson and sophomore Aris Kirkorian won three games before dropping the match 3-6 to Ole Lepsoe and Alex Merson.
  • Junior Graham Russo and first-year Ziad Tabbara collected a pair of game victories against Wesley Zhang and Edward Wang in a 2-6 loss in number three action.
  • Graduate student Tanner Honnef and senior Ryan Hovey competed in number two play and won a game before falling 1-6 to Brady Anderson and Sebastian Mendoza.
Singles: Babson 6, Clark 0
  • Hovey won three games in each set as he fell 3-6, 3-6 to Zhang in number five action.
  • Kirkorian (No. 2) and Honnef (No. 6) both won three games as they dropped their matches 2-6, 1-6.
  • Tabbara collected a pair of victories in each set as he was bested 1-6, 1-6 by Merson in number three play.
  • Shepherd-Johnson (No. 1) and Russo (No. 4) both tallied a win in the first set, but fell 1-6, 0-6.
