Offense Explodes for Five Goals in 5-0 Win Over Nichols

WORCESTER, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (3-1-0) welcomed Nichols (0-4-2) to Granger Field on Monday night and netted a season-high five goals as the scarlet and white came away with a convincing 5-0 victory over the Bison.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars applied early offensive pressure as senior Ben Siegel fired three shots on goal that were saved before first-year Carter Benoff scored off a feed from junior Marc Kim in the 14th minute to make it a 1-0 game.
  • Just over a minute later, Benoff sent a corner into the box that found the foot of first-year Shahmeer Waseem and Waseem found the back of the net to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • Senior Diego Marin stopped a shot from Alexandro Montreuil in the 24th minute before Siegel fired a shot off the crossbar less than a minute later.
  • Sophomore Evan Thompson created Clark's final chance of the half with less than 0:20 to go as the scarlet and white took a 2-0 edge into the break.
  • In the 52nd minute, first-year Jacob Ordonez found the back of the net with a double assist going to Benoff and Siegel to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Waseem, senior Mauro Perez Colon each put shots on target in the middle of the second half that was saved before senior Henry Kuerbis scored off a feed from fellow senior Luke Sheldon in the 76th minute.
  • Sophomore Richard Ogawa Jr. netted Clark's final goal of the game with less than a minute to go as the scarlet and white prevailed 5-0.
