BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Clark University field hockey team (6-0) traveled to Simmons (0-5) in a midweek clash against the Sharks and came away with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon from Daly Field.
The Cougars have now posted five shutouts in six games.
How it Happened
- The scarlet and white earned four penalty corners over the first four minutes of action before first-year Olivia Bass found the back of the cage off a feed from senior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia to take a 1-0 lead.
- Senior Loren Root recorded her first save of the match in the eighth minute and fellow senior Morgan Brown nearly doubled the lead, but saw her shot saved by Jamila Mohamed.
- Root registered a pair of saves in the second quarter and Brown fired her second shot on target of the contest that was stopped as the Cougars led 1-0 at the half.
- Cacciapaglia opened the third with a goal to push the advantage to 2-0 and over the next six minutes, Clark earned three penalty corners and senior Alison Kopec fired a shot on target that was saved.
- Over the final five minutes of the quarter, Cacciapaglia and Bass recorded shots on goal that were stopped as the team took a two-goal lead into the fourth.
- Junior Rachel Reiter stopped three shots in the fourth and Brown netted Clark's third goal of the contest off a feed from first-year Katelyn Towne as the Cougars registered a 3-0 win.
