WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's tennis team (3-0) dropped the doubles point, but won five of the six singles matches as they topped Gordon (0-1) 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon from the Corash Tennis Courts.
How it Happened
Doubles: Gordon 2, Clark 1
- Seniors Edward Shepherd-Johnson and Graham Russo tallied Clark's first doubles win of the day with a 6-3 victory over Bodner and Diaz in number one action.
- In number two doubles, junior Aris Kirkorian and sophomore Ziad Tabbara battled with Guzman and Martinez, forced a tiebreak, but were edged 6-7 (7-9).
- First-year Benjamin Liu and senior Sai Chanda were bested 4-6 by Wellborn and Makiej in number three action.
Singles: Clark 5, Gordon 1
- Russo earned Clark's first point of the afternoon as he topped Wellborn 6-1, 6-0 in number four action.
- Shepherd-Johnson tallied the second point of the match with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win in number two play.
- In number six singles, sophomore Ethan Montane also tallied 6-2, 6-2 victory over Makiej.
- Tabbara clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Guzman in number three action.
- Liu registered a 6-3, 6-4 victory in a match against Martinez in number five play.
- In number one action, Kirkorian fell 4-6, 6-7 (5-7) in a competitive match against Bodner.
