MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Clark University men's soccer senior
Diego Marin was named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office earlier today.
This marks Marin's second career NEWMAC honor after earning the accolade on September 24, 2024.
"Diego was a key contributor to this weekend's performance," said head
Samuel Matteson. "He made a number of key saves late in the game to preserve the clean sheet and see Clark leave with all three points."
Marin (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) recorded his first shutout of the season to help Clark record a 1-0 road victory against WNE on Sunday afternoon. The senior netminder tallied five total saves and added four stops in the second half to help preserve the win.
The senior is up to 161 career saves and has recorded six shutouts across 33 games played. The scarlet and white will return to the pitch tomorrow night when they travel into Boston for a contest against Wentworth beginning at 6:00 p.m.
