BOSTON, Mass. - Clark men's soccer (2-0-0) traveled to Wentworth (0-1-2) and stunned the Leopards with a slide tackle goal from first-year
Shahmeer Waseem that found that back of the net as the Cougars prevailed 1-0 on Wednesday night from Sweeney Field.
How it Happened
- Senior Luke Sheldon recorded the Cougars first shot attempt of the game in the 11th minute before fellow senior Henry Kuerbis sent a shot just left of the target in the 20th minute.
- Junior Jaime Pedraza tallied a pair of saves in the middle of the first half before senior Ben Siegel created a chance in the 30th minute that was stopped by Adrian Sanchez.
- Pedraza recorded his third save of the half in the 38th minute and neither team tallied a shot over the final seven minutes of action as the teams entered the break tied at 0-0.
- The scarlet and white created three chances within the first 12 minutes of the second half as junior Charles Lopez, Siegel, and Sheldon all fired shots that missed the mark.
- After a save from Pedraza, Clark created two more chances before Waseem stole the ball from Wentworth's center back and slide tackled the ball into the back of the goal to put the Cougars in front 1-0 in the 79th minute.
- Siegel nearly doubled the lead in the 84th minute hit the post and in the 90th minute, Clark recorded a defensive save to come away with a 1-0 win.
