NORTON, Mass. – The Clark University men's soccer team (3-3-1, 0-1-1 NEWMAC) traveled to face No. 9 nationally ranked Wheaton College (7-0-2, 2-0-0 NEWMAC) on Saturday, where the Lyons struck late in the first half and added two early in the second to secure a 3-0 win.

Wheaton came out firing with 13 shots, including three on goal, in the opening 38 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Diego Marin stood tall, turning aside all three attempts, highlighted by a quick sequence where he made two saves just 11 seconds apart.

The Lyons finally broke through in the 40th minute when Vinny McGann played Charlie Cushing forward, who slid a pass across the goal to a wide-open Baden McLaughlin for the tap-in finish.

Clark generated a chance late in the half as freshman Theo Massie-Vereker unleashed a strike from distance, but Michael O'Gara made the save, sending the teams into halftime with a 1-0 score.

Wheaton continued to press in the final 40 minutes, registering three more shots on target, but Marin was able to make three additional saves as the Cougars ultimately fell 3-0 at the final whistle.
