Volleyball Falls to Emerson and Bowdoin on Saturday

BOSTON, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (1-9, 0-2 NEWMAC) traveled to Boston for a pair of contests, opening against NEWMAC opponent Emerson (8-5, 2-0 NEWMAC) and closing with Bowdoin (6-6), with the Cougars dropping both contests on Saturday afternoon from the Bobbi Brown and Steven Plofker Gymnasium.

Emerson, 3 Clark 1
  • The Cougars dropped the first set 25-16, fell 25-12 in the second set, won the third set 25-23, and were bested 26-24 in the final set.
  • Clark recorded 34 kills, 30 assists, 41 digs, eight service aces, and six blocks.
  • Sophomore Isabella Alcott led the squad with 19 kills and added seven digs.
  • Junior Harper Chinn (4) and junior Winifred Gakidis (4) were tied for second in kills.
  • Junior Julia Dopazo (16) and sophomore Hannah Harrington (8) led the team in assists.
  • Senior Yumeng Liu registered a team-leading 12 digs.
  • Chinn recorded three service aces and Gakidis tallied four blocks.
Bowdoin 3, Clark 0
  • The scarlet and white fell 25-18 in the first and second sets and were edged 25-17 in the final set.
  • Clark recorded 21 kills, 20 assists, 29 digs, seven service aces, and three blocks.
  • Alcott again led the squad with eight kills.
  • Chinn registered six kills and a pair of service aces.
  • Dopazo (13) and Harrington (5) led the Cougars in assists.
  • Junior Katelyn Williams (8) and Liu (7) were the top two on the team in digs.
  • Sophomore Abigail Venis blocked a pair of kills.
What's Next
Clark will be back in action on Tuesday night when they welcome Coast Guard to the Kneller for a NEWMAC contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
